MONTHLY/ANNUAL TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPION (TOC)

LETTER OF INSTRUCTION

1.  PURPOSE:  To provide a golf event that offers an opportunity for a fun and competitive golf tournament for members. The intent is to promote camaraderie while recognizing and rewarding outstanding players monthly, culminating with annual club Tournament of Champions “TOC”.

 

2.  OBJECTIVES:

 

a.    Establish a competitive golf tournament in an even scale (NET), where members have an opportunity to compete with other members. Members can learn from each other about the rules, etiquettes of golf, and apply them during a tournament.

 

            b.   Recognize and reward the Monthly/Annual TOC champions and other members at the                      

             Club’s Annual Picnic/Awards Banquet.

 

            c.   This is a club sponsored event.  Maximum participation is encouraged.  Invitation is open for non-member as “Guest”.

 

3.  FORMAT:  

 

  1. Stroke Play - Full handicap. All members must have an established USGA GHIN Handicap Index.  In addition, a modified style FedEx point system will be applied for the Annual Club Tournament of Championship Award.  Members that do not have an established handicap index will have an established handicap index before round 2.  Members will pay $39 for GHIN membership and scores will be posted from past rounds in order to establish handicap index.  All rounds will be posted by club USGA GHIN Administrator to get the established handicap index. The established handicap index will be used to get course handicap and use for both rounds.  All holes must be holed out! “NO GIMME PUTTS”

 

       4.  SCHEDULE:

 

  1. Monthly TOC.  Schedule for competitive play listed below for each month starting March thru September and Playoffs in October. Dates can be modified if needed by club officers.

March 2023 - 12 & 19

April 2023 - 2 & 16

May 2023 - 7 & 21

June 2023 - 4 & 11

July 2023 - 9 & 16

Aug 2023 - 6 & 13

September 2023 - 10 & 17

October 2023 - 1 & 15 (Playoffs)

 

  1. Tournament Director will setup first round foursomes by member’s drawing cards.  Pairing for second round will start will net scores from highest to lowest. All guests need to understand that they might not be able to play with member during round 2. Members not in contention and guest will go out first, but can be changed by tournament director if needed.

 

  1. Cash (1st - 3rd only) and points awarded to top 5 places.  Payout/Points guide:

 

                       1st = 50% (cash) + 40 points

                        2nd = 30% (cash) + 30 points

                       3rd = 20% (cash) + 20 points

                        4th = 15 points only

                       5th = 10 points only

 

                   NOTES: 1. 2 points per round/ month.

                                    2. “No show” receives no points.

                  3. “Inactive/Excused”. Member may request to return to “Active” status and participate in monthly TOCs, but must become current with Club/Annual TOC dues.   

                                    

(3)  Members placing top 3 will receive their cash award at completion of 2nd round. The monthly TOC Champion will receive a Red Polo shirt (Logo on front or shirt and CGCWS Champion Golfer on sleeve).  Club funds will be used to purchase Polo shirt. Multiple winner will not get an additional shirt in the same year.

 

(4)  Multiple monthly TOC Champion will be awarded additional 50 points.

 

b.   Annual TOC Playoff.  Upon completion of September TOC, two playoff rounds will be played in October.  Top ten awarded points as follows below: 

 

                           1st – 100 pts, 2nd – 90, 3rd – 80, 4th – 70, 5th – 60, 6th – 50, 7th – 40, 8th – 30,                                                 

                           9th – 20 and 10th – 10.  5 points per round for all others.  No-show receives no points.

 

  1. Tournament Director will setup first round foursomes by member’s drawing cards.  Pairing for second round will be in order of total cumulative points to date.  All guests need to understand that they might not be able to play with member during round 2. Members not in contention and guest will go out first, but can be changed by tournament director if needed. 

 

  1. Member with the most cumulative points earned to date for the season, will be award the Annual TOC Championship.

 

      5.  FEES:

 

a.   Monthly $5.

Note: Fee not assessed if member is not available for 1st round.

 

b.   Annual fee of $5.00 per month will be collected at the beginning with membership for March – September of $35.00 total.

 

c.   Playoff fee of $10 per round will be collected at the beginning with membership for 2 rounds of $20.00 total.

 

d.   Member must be current with dues and fees to be eligible for Annual TOC prizes.  Members who   are not current by the 2nd playoff round will not be eligible for annual TOC Prizes. 

         

    6.  ANNUAL TOC AWARD PRESENTATION:

 

  1.  Awards will be presented to members at the Club Annual Picnic.   

 

  1.  Membership participation of 25+.  Top 10 receive 60% of tournament prize.  Remaining receive 40% equally.

  2.  Membership participation of 20-24.  Top 10 receive 75%.  Remaining receive 25% equally.

  3.  Percentage of breakdown.  1st = 19%, 2nd = 13%, 3rd = 12%, 4th = 11%, 5th = 10%, 6th = 9%, 7th = 8%, 8th = 7%, 9th = 6%, 10th = 5%.

 

NOTE: If membership participation falls to less than 20 during the club’s calendar year or prior to playoff rounds, officers will approve adjustment to satisfy fair distribution.

 

  1. The Annual TOC Club Champion will be presented a “Club Champion Jacket”.  Club funds will be used to purchase jacket.

     

NOTE:  TOC finals & cumulative points tie.  Apply tie-breaker rule (paragraph 12) for 1st and 10th place ties (See note below).  Combine monies and equal share for all other places. If the event of a tie for 1st place in points the winner of the tie breaker will be awarded an additional 5 points and earn sole possession of 1st place. 2nd round playoff no-show who is tied for 1st and 10th place in points will automatically take 2nd and 11th place. 

 

NOTE: 2nd round playoff score card will be used for all tie breakers.

      

    7.  HANDICAP:  

 

  1. Handicap will be established for each member utilizing the USGA GHIN system posting all scores being played.  Handicap chairman is tasked to maintain the roster and provide monthly update. 

 

  1. Members are required to sign up and utilize the USGA GHIN system for handicap recording purpose.

 

  1. Handicap Chair will post all TOC and club outings by hole by hole. Members can post other tournament scores and must be posted hole by hole.

 

  1. Monthly TOC Rounds and tournaments played will be scored as competition.

  2. All other scores will be away unless playing at Eagles Pride Golf Course (Home).

  1. For all Club Tournament play, Handicap Slope and Rating will be used to establish handicap for course being played.  The Course handicap index will be pulled from the USGA GHIN system the Friday before the 1st round of each monthly TOC and will be each member’s handicap for both TOC rounds.  The Course Handicap indicates the number of handicap strokes you receive based on the slope rating and an adjustment for Course Rating minus Par for the selected tees.    

 

8.  LOCAL RULES: 

 

“Summer/Winter play” applies as designated by Club.  During “Summer/Winter play”, the lift,           clean, and place rule must be used.   

 

    9.  SENIOR TEES: 

 

  1. Member age 65+ will tee off at the course designated SENIOR or GOLD Tees.  If course have no designated Senior Tees, the ladies’ tees will be used.

 

  1. Member has the option to play from the Senior Tees when a member’s age and handicap equals 85.

 

   10.  NON-SENIOR TEES:  Member aged 64 and below will tee off at course designated WHITE tees.

 

   11.  TOURNAMENT FEES, ACCOUNTING and UPDATE: 

 

  1. Tournament Director will collect and account all tournament fees.

 

  1. Provide Monthly Tournaments Results, Standings and Handicap Update. 

 

   12.  TIE-BREAKER: In the event of a tie score, matching of scorecards will be used. Following applies:

 

  1. Last nine holes played (10-18), ½ of handicap is deducted.

 

         b.   If still tie, use last six holes played (13-18), 1/3 of handicap is deducted.

 

         c.   Last three holes played (16-18), 1/6 of handicap is deducted.

 

             d.   18th Hole

 

             e.   Front nine holes played, ½ of handicap.

 

13. HOLE-IN-ONE (HIO): 

 

During club events such as; Monthly/Annual TOC, Weekend Club Outings as published in GROUP ME application and club sponsored tournaments, annual HAGC tournament, and HAGC Host Club Fund-Raisers, a MEMBER scoring an ACE will receive HIO award and prize. The club treasurer will collect $10 from each member.  An ACE is not limited to one per round and can be awarded twice or more the same day.  The member will be recognized at the Club’s Annual Picnic.

 

14.  SIDE ACTION: Players will declare participation in the side action before there round starts 

 

Participation in SKIN/KP/LOW NET is Optional ($10 for each side action game).   For SKIN, members will utilize their course handicap (tee’s playing) index to determine strokes given for total handicap holes.  18 will be the maximum handicap given. A stroke will be given on all handicap holes, but all par 3’s are excluded.  Members and guest who do not have an established USGA GHIN Index will play as a zero. 

 

KP.  Ball closest to the hole will be measured and recorded by other members in group/foursome.  Record distance in feet and inches.
